Exporter network investigation

Indonesia's Largest Kratom Exporters

Public shipping records identify the named suppliers and shippers behind thousands of metric tons of Mitragyna speciosa entering the United States. This page examines scale, recurring importer relationships, HS-code patterns, ports, and the limits of the public record.

Every shipment begins with a named shipper

When lawmakers see kratom at a gas station, vape shop, smoke shop, or online retailer, they are seeing the final commercial product—not the upstream trade network that supplied it. Before reaching the United States, bulk leaf or powder may pass through harvesters, processors, exporters, freight consolidators, ocean carriers, customs brokers, importers, and warehouses.

The workbook behind this investigation identified 41 normalized supplier or shipper entities with at least one Indonesia-linked record. Counting all curated records tied to those entities produces a company-level total of 276 records and 8,599.233 metric tons.

A stricter row-level count—limited only to records whose supplier-country field explicitly identifies Indonesia—produces 251 records and 7,995.956 metric tons. Both totals are disclosed because commercial trade databases contain apparent country-label and normalization errors.

Two disclosed counting methods

Company-level Indonesia-linked count: 41 normalized entities, 276 curated records, and 8,599.233 metric tons. An entity is included if at least one curated record identifies an Indonesia link; all curated records for that normalized entity are then counted.

Strict country-field count: 251 curated records and 7,995.956 metric tons where the supplier-country field itself explicitly identifies Indonesia.

Dataset period: 2024-04-25 to 2026-07-22. The curated table is a best estimate after reducing likely master/house document duplication. Country fields in commercial databases contain apparent normalization errors and should not be treated as definitive evidence of cultivation origin or corporate domicile.

Largest Indonesia-linked names by documented weight

The ranking below uses the company-level Indonesia-linked method: a normalized entity is included when at least one curated record contains an Indonesia link, and all curated records for that entity are then shown. Two other high-volume names in the overall supplier ranking—Transindo Antariksa Logistik and Zyam Trade 168—are addressed separately because their country fields point to Singapore and Thailand.

Recurring supplier–importer relationships

The workbook shows that much of the trade was organized through repeated commercial pairings rather than isolated transactions.

Patterns that deserve separate review

Classification and wording outliers

  • PT Sahabat Sukses Kalimantan Barat: 19 records under 121190 and one under 310100.
  • Robi Darmawan Botanicals: six records with non-consumption wording and one record under 120930.
  • Delta Gambung Nusantara: 11 records carrying dye/color-use wording in the workbook flags.
  • Ampera Jaya Global: four non-consumption records and two dye/color wording flags.
  • Ihsan Jaya Logistik: nine external-use records and nine records under 090111.

What these flags mean

  • They identify exact wording or codes in the curated records.
  • They help isolate records for closer review.
  • They do not establish who selected the wording.
  • They do not prove CBP accepted the code.
  • They do not prove FDA reviewed or admitted a shipment.
  • They are leads for the later public-materials and company-profile investigations.

What the records show—and what they do not

The records can establish

  • The named shipper and consignee in the public record.
  • Documented weights, dates, ports, routes, and container data.
  • Cargo descriptions and HS codes appearing in the dataset.
  • Recurring relationships between named suppliers and U.S. importers.
  • Patterns worth requesting additional records about.

The records do not establish

  • Which farm produced the material.
  • Whether the named shipper actually manufactured it.
  • Product quality, testing, contamination controls, or age.
  • Whether FDA reviewed, detained, released, or refused a shipment.
  • Whether CBP accepted or modified the reported classification.
  • Whether any law was violated.

Questions for lawmakers and agencies

Which named shippers are producers, processors, exporters, or freight intermediaries?
What documentation links a U.S. importer to the actual overseas manufacturer?
How are identity, contamination, age, and storage conditions verified before entry?
Why do some supplier names appear under multiple tariff headings or intended-use descriptions?
Were high-volume recurring supplier–importer relationships reviewed by FDA or CBP?
Can agencies connect bulk imports to downstream retail products and brands?
